Why do I have a Wii again?

images.jpegI will warn you that buying a Nintendo Wii doesn't mean your cool, or give you any fame. Also, once your past the cutesy Wii Sports game, and get bored with that... your pretty much not going to use it again. I can say that after Wii Sports, and Zelda, I haven't even bothered to plug mine in! There is no compelling games, and with the lackluster graphics, dumbed down network connectivity, and the crappiness of the controllers with REAL games, I can say that I should have probably avoided the Wii... I suggest you avoid the hype this holiday season, unless you want the kids to throw their controllers through your tv, or want something you can play when throwing a party and want to be uber-hip. I don't know, maybe the new Mario game will make me feel good again... Sounds like Ebay time! HB

If your in the market for a PS3... 40 gb coming Nov 2nd for $399.99

10-8-07-40gb_ps3_200pxl.jpg I have had mine since last year and still only have bought 2 games for it from a retail store. It does work great as a Blue-Ray player and network enabled media player though! 40 gig model is gimped though! Only 2 USB ports, no media slots, and no backwards compatibility! Digital Switchover: Best Buy Stops Selling Analog Sets, Signaling End of an Era

Kicking_TV_2.jpg On October 1, Best Buy ordered any unsold analog TV sets to be pulled from shelves, never to be sold again. This is happening a solid year and four months before the Feb. 18, 2009 end of analog broadcasting, but there's no time like the present. Is it an upsell opportunity for the big-box retailer? Sure, but it's also the right thing to do.

Here's what Best Buy SVP of electronics, Mike Vitelli, said in a statement:

'We are committed to helping people understand the digital television transition, and exiting the analog video business is one way we can help avoid confusion.'
We agree. No more confusing analog sets, especially now that prices are falling on digital sets. Starting next year, digital converter boxes will be available to people who want to hang onto their TVs, and the government will hand out $40 coupons for people to help them pay for the boxes. [AP]

Updated Live Search for Windows Mobile available

One of the coolest and most used programs on my Smartphone is Windows Live Search. I used to use Google maps on it, but since MS released WLS I have been using that for looking up directions and as a replacement for 411 to look up numbers. Today Microsoft released an updated version with Speech Recognition and Gas Prices! I tried it out, and it works awesome. No more typing while on the go, you can just say "McDonalds", and it will give a list of them on the screen with maps, number, and directions! I highly recommend that you try this out if you have a Windows Mobile Standard Smartphone such as a Motorola Q, or a Windows Mobile Pro device, such as my Samsung i760. Obviously a data plan is required... But why wouldn't you already have one? :) HB Linkage - Windows Live Search for Mobile

Verizon customers, you are about to share your calling info... PAY ATTENTION! Opt out now!

can_you_hear_me_now_lg.gifFor some reason "The Network" or Verizon, has decided to share your calling information unless you opt out of letting them do so! I followed the following information, and it is how you opt out of the informaiton sharing... Verizon Wireless is requiring customers to opt out of allowing the carrier to share their customer proprietary network information (CPNI), a new policy that could spark protest from the carrier’s customers. CPNI comprises users’ calling records and includes the numbers of incoming and outgoing calls and time spent on each call, among other data. Verizon Wireless last week began sending letters notifying customers that they have 30 days to opt out of the program by calling an 800 number before their information would be shared. To "Opt out" please do the following... 1. Dial 1-800-333-9956 on your Verizon Phone 2. Follow voice commands to Opt Out, your can do more than one VZW number on one call. MySpace = teh Evil!

Yes, I deleted my Myspace account this morning because I couldn't deal with the daily friend requests from the Porno spammers... and the all around general ugliness it represents... Anyhow, I still have my Facebook, blogs, Twitter, Jaiku, and instant messaging for people to contact me. :) HB

Booty Shakin Flea Market Commercial!

Awe yeah! At the market!

Discounted Data Plans coming to Verizon November 1st? *UPDATE*

images.jpegI have been hearing rumors from multiple sources that VZW will begin discounting data plans for PDA users in the coming month.

This is awesome news! With the forthcoming Samsung i760, Blackberry Pearl 2, Verizon XV6800, and a few others, it is believed that VZW wants to make data plans more attractive to users, and even families with data centric family plans!!

Expect more info as I dig it up!

There is one downside however... users currently getting away with free WAP access on normal phones, or using minutes for access, will now have to pay per KB, and are encouraged to pay for access now or incur huge charges! Users paying for VCAST however, should be fine.

*UPDATE* After hearing from people in the know at VZW, it appears only Blackberry users will be seeing a discount in their data prices... what a rip job! I hope they are wrong, but I have a bad feeling that it just wasn't meant to be, and we continued to be bled to death by VZW, and their non-competitive pricing. HB

Verizon's answer to the iPhone - The LG Voyager

voyager-icon-screen.jpg

Well it looks like VZW has their iPhone competition forthcoming... the LG Voyager. From the looks of the picture, its pretty much nearly ripping off the interface aspect, but the internal keyboard and screen would be much better in my book for text, email, and such.

Happy 30th Birthday Atari!

cx2600.jpg
Wow, its been 30 years? Crazy! I have fond memories of opening up a nice big package on Christmas day a long time ago, and freaking out that we got an Atari 2600! I can't tell you how many times I would go to the electronics department in ShopKo before that to just get my hands on the 2600 for a few minutes to play those "amazing" games... State of the art graphics back then, and you could play arcade games like PacMan in your home. Anyhow, I have posted a link for nostalgia to Retro Thing which celebrated with articles all last week.
