Goodbye Gateway 2000!
With today's announcement of Acer aquiring Gateway, I can only feel that their days are numbered here in the Midwest. And also, as an Gateway 2000 alumni, I will miss the old days of Gateway here in Sioux Falls, and North Sioux City, SD. Working there was one of the most exciting and fun jobs I have had, and I also made so many life long friends there in a short time, I can't help but feel bad about them being swallowed up by Acer today.
In my opinion, they started the long slippery slope back in 1997 when outsourcing became popular, and quality and customer service took a back seat. Thank god I bailed early!
Anyhow, good luck to current employees, and if your alumni, leave a comment about your experiences and memories!
In case you didn't know that picture is of our fearless leader and CEO at the time, Ted Waitt.

COD 4 Beta Update
Well, they basically had a do-over, and everyone had the chance to sign up starting tonight again, and I got my beta application in. It sounds like they will draw for tokens randomly tomorrow night. I believe they are accepting sign-ups for 24 hours...
Good luck!

Motorola Q9m available today on Verizon Wireless website!
Its really hard for me to pass this up, but starting today the music centric Motorola Q9m is available for purchase. This is Verizon's first Windows Mobile 6 based smartphone, and they have added all kinds of gizmo's to make it a multimedia unit.
It has a nice sleek black and red look to it as opposed to the older Q, and supposedly the keyboard is much improved as well.
Again, its tough for me to pass on this while I wait on the Samsung SCH-i760, or the UTstarcom xv6800, but I am going to try really hard!
The media–centric Motorola MOTO Q™ Music 9m Smartphone offers 2 Home Screen options – one Multimedia and Standard. The exclusive multimedia home screen together with the thumbwheel and center navigation key allows the user to maximize the V CAST Music experience while the standard home screen offers one–touch access to voice, email and Text messages. The Q 9m operates on the Windows® Mobile 6 OS and comes equipped with Bluetooth® Stereo Wireless Technology, a 1.3 megapixelcamera/camcorder with flash and a miniSD™ memory card slot which supports up to 4GB of additional memory. Also add to this impressive list of credentials a web browser, tethered modem support, and an ergonomically redesigned Keyboard.Linkage - Motorola Q9c on VZW.com

Verizon prepares 15 still unannounced phones for release
I have been waiting forever to replace my Q, and they just keep pushing the dates back, which pisses me off. I would jump to another carrier if I had that option, so I sit and wait...
Anyhow, 2 new Moto Qs, Samsung i760, UTStarcom SMT5800, and UTStarcom xv6800, Blackberry 8130 Pearl are all options for me, and will start dropping as early as next month (yeah right).
For you people that like normal handsets, there are several to choose from as well in the coming months.

Web Clips and Feeds
A new item that I have added is my "Feed" links on the right hand side. I will share cool links and articles there in real time as I find them. Its easier to do this than to always post a link on the blog here, as my time is constrained lately with kids and work.
Anyhow, enjoy some of the articles I have come across...

My launch day Xbox 360... SHE LIVES!
UPDATE - SHE LIVES!
I let it sit overnight, and decided that I didn't want to send the sucker in, and I was able to game tonight without any issue! Lets hope it lives through all the awesome games coming this fall!

Yes, after all this time, I am now suffering the Red Ring of Death! The good news is that I can send it back for repair at no cost! The bad news is, it can take up to 9 days for a box to send it back, and then six weeks for them to repair it and send it back to me!!!! DOH! It looks like I will be missing out on COD 4 beta, and maybe not even have a 360 for the Halo 3 launch! Oh well, I have a WII, PS3, and PC to keep me busy, but this sure changes my plans on a bunch of money I was going to spend.HB

A history of the Amiga, part 1: Genesis
When it first arrived, the Amiga was a dream machine, and some have said it was ten years ahead of its time. The first installment of this multipart history of the Amiga looks at the events that led up to the birth of the company and the PC that bore its name.
